Dear Friends
This
is a time of sadness after the Connecticut shootings.
To follow up my reflection on today's Reading-Reflection-Prayer
menu
I'd like to point out a contrast with China, where a similar tragedy
happened a few hours before the US tragedy:
a
knife-wielding man injured 23 children
A
determined person in China, or any other country, can still get a gun.
But when getting a gun is made more difficult by strict laws, mass shootings
decrease
See
this article on today's menu:
What John Howard could teach the US re gun control
which has the amazing fact that since Howard's tough gun laws were
introduced, there have been no mass shootings in Australia (compared with
six mass shootings in the 10 years before the gun laws)
Also...this is a male thing. As far as I can remember, all recent mass shootings have been done by men/boys. Any connection with years/decades of "masculine" violent movies/games?
May God strengthen the Connecticut grieving families, and may the shooting victims now in Heaven help President Obama by their prayers to do something about guns in the US
And may all the publicity about this new tragedy not lead to copy-cat tragedies
------
On this
16th of the month,
Jesus please bless
the people of Qinghai
(Please join me in praying for one
part of China each day of the month)
Thank you for a prayer
God bless!
