Dear Friends
Today
I'm due to fly from Sydney to Brisbane
Leaving Sydney, like leaving Melbourne a week ago,
I have an increased awareness of how multi-cultural the two cities have become
On the one hand many older people from other countries in "non-Western dress". On the other hand the children and grandchildren of that older generation now becoming "assimilated" (in the good sense of that word)
I heard of 2nd/3rd generation Chinese Catholics who often/usually swap between English Mass and Chinese Mass because they feel at home in both
On a train in Sydney I heard two teenage girls jabbering away in Australian/American English (every phrase beginning with "like"!)....and as I left the train I noticed they were with their Vietnamese parents
And
two signs of the times in Sefton where I was staying:
the local Uniting Church is often used for community activities by a group from
Fiji....and a former local Protestant church is now a mosque, complete with
crest on top of tower,
used every night by a very friendly Muslim group
Come to think of it....we'd better get used to living with people from other countries: that's what we're going to be doing in Heaven!

God bless all on my sick list, in HK,
Australia, China and other places,
- especially dear friends battling cancer.....
Thank you for a prayer
God bless!
