Dear Friends
Late yesterday afternoon when the sun was declining, I went for a lovely swim in the surf at Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast
After the swim, as I enjoyed some fish and chips on the foreshore, I noticed a nearby Muslim lady in full black (but head uncovered) bowing in prayer, her head touching the ground several times
Within a few metres of her were women in bikinis, people laughing and joking, children playing in the sand (...nothing wrong with bikinis or laughing or playing in sand...) but she, since it was prayer time, gave that time to God, without worrying about where she was or who was looking at her or what anyone else else thought of her
Had the effect of making me take my Cross out of my pocket and put it back around my neck. I felt ashamed that I had taken it off with the aim of a few minutes complete anonymity while I relaxed (..nothing wrong with that either...but her example trumped my right to anonymity)
