Dear Friends
As I was walking from a prison to the metro yesterday
afternoon about 5pm, I remembered that Pope Benedict's final gathering
with the cardinals was probably just starting .....10am Rome time
So I started praying for the Holy Spirit to bless the whole gathering, especially Benedict himself.....and maybe prompt him to say words like these...which would be as big a shock for some people as his resignation....but a great encouragement to those of us hoping for renewal in the Church
Let's keep praying day and night for the conclave....and the meetings going on beforehand. I keep picturing immaculately dressed cardinals in flowing robes sitting down to lavish meals at expensive restaurants ....and that is part of the problem
