Dear Friends

Several times over the past months, this website has mentioned how Cardinal George Pell would like to be pope. See
this article of Feb 24   and this one of Feb 17

And this link of Dec 1 promoting Cardinal Pell as pope (...where did the reporters get this remarkable information, if not from Cardinal G.P himself?!)

And now it seems his name is being seriously promoted in Rome as someone to clean up the mess - see this Catholica article

In his own way Cardinal Pell is a brilliant man, but he has been one of the leaders of the "reform of the reform" agenda

His ambitiousness is not a good sign. I once heard a senior Melbourne diocesan priest say how, when George was an auxiliary bishop in Melbourne, "he was up and down to Canberra (to the nuncio) every week" to secure the eviction of Archbishop Frank Little....and  himself as immediate replacement".  Then he had himself transplanted to Sydney diocese to secure a cardinalate

When Pope John Paul II was nearing the end of his days, and people began speculating about the next pope, no one gave Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger a mention. But then, after the funeral, his name suddenly appeared ....and many people like myself said "Oh no...surely not"

As Cardinal Pell's promotion continues, I again think "Oh no...surely not"

Come Holy Spirit and help the conclave to choose a humble, unambitious cardinal - someone with a genuine love for the poor, for a simple lifestyle, and for the vision of Vatican II

Update March 4, 2013: You have to hand it to the man
