criticized Pope Benedict for resigning,
and called for future popes to stay in office until death
Making
more sense than such a proposal are the comments to the article, especially the
comments that suggest a fixed term of office for a pope,
one suggesting six years, another ten years
If the pope continues till death, and in his final years his health deteriorates seriously, the Church is run by the Curia ...with disastrous results as in the case of Pope John Paul II (e.g. he was too ill to realize the situation of Marcial Marciel)
