Dear Friends
Sometime
in the next four days, before the 2013 National People's Congress finishes in
Beijing, China will officially have a new leader:
Xi Jinping, aged 59
Sometime
in the next two weeks, when the next conclave finishes in Rome, the Catholic
Church will officially have a new human leader:
Pope ......, aged ....
It's interesting that the Church and China are having new leaders at the same time
Both
China and the Church have over a billion members.
Both China and the Church are ruled by an exclusive club of elderly men
Both China and the Church practise a censorship that denies basic rights (rites?) to their members
For most HK people, and maybe for most people in China, a new president has little if any relevance. What difference, if any, will he make to the lives of most people?
For
most Catholics, how much relevance does a new pope have?
How much do most Catholics care?
What difference will a new pope make to the lives of most Catholics?
The
Bible says to pray for government and Church leaders.
Not much else we can
do!
God,
please bless President Xi Jinping and Pope ..... !
