I find it hard to believe that Pope Francis is not inviting Pope Emeritus Benedict to attend tomorrow's installation...unless of course Benedict has made it clear he prefers not to attend
c.f. inauguration of a US president....all former presidents usually attend...as a sign of good will from both directions
c.f. last week's transfer of power in Beijing: former president and premier standing with new president and premier
It's Francis' day, yes, but the presence of Benedict ...and a blessing from Benedict...with Benedict beside Francis in the second place of honor....would surely be good for the unity of the Church...and help ensure a smooth transfer of leadership
May
the same Holy Spirit who sprang a surprise in Francis' election...also arrange
for Benedict to join the party tomorrow!
