Pope
Francis has called for the Church to be a church for the poor.
Francis is setting an example...e.g. giving up the glamour of St Peter's
Basilica on Holy Thursday night for Mass in a prison
Each Catholic: each girl and boy, each student, each parent, each teacher, each worker, each retired person, each religious, each priest, each bishop....must try to follow the pope's example: what can I give up in order better to serve the poor?
Some
time? Some luxury? Look after a less well-off
group/student/person....rather than look after better off folk?
How can I put into practice "a preference for the poor"?
As
we remember the Week when Someone washed his followers' feet and then gave up
His life for our sake, let's try to make a resolution to choose
"a prison" rather than "a palace" in some way or other
during the coming year
