Dear Friends
Well, if the pope's going to wash prisoners' feet on Holy Thursday night, I reckon we prison chaplains should show a bit of support
So...yesterday at Lai Chi Kok detention centre....in 8 different day rooms...I not only shook everyone's hands...I also washed feet...of 6-12 men in each section, with a good crowd of onlookers. During the washing, men read Last Supper Gospel re washing...from photocopied sheets
At
end of washing of feet we had a simple kissing of my large OMI Cross, with
reflection that being in prison is like being on the Cross.
May this week give everyone hope that Easter freedom is coming
After this: sign of peace all round....wishing each other a Happy Easter
Holy Thursday and Good Friday in 10-15 minutes
(Nearly
forgot: of the 60 or so men whose feet were washed, most were not water-baptised
Christians.
Also: and more feet-washing in next few days at Lai Chi Kok and Hei Ling Chau
centres)

My
"Foreigner in Hong Kong" column in today's Ming
Pao newspaper
Topic: Easter and Ching Ming ....with "Proof of Heaven"
Thank you for a prayer
God bless!
