Today's English editorial of Hong Kong's Ming Pao newspaper speaks of earthquake donations not reaching the victims. China's Red Cross has a terrible reputation for corruption
Yesterday's editorial mentioned how HK donations paid for a new school in the area of the 2008 earthquake, but after only one year that school was demolished to make way for a high rise commercial building
Some years ago I heard of a similar thing in Guangzhou. A brand new school paid for by HK donors was demolished within a year or so to make way for high rise development....with the school authorities getting little compensation while the developers made a fortune
Corruption is a problem in every part of the world. But without a free media, without the rule of law, corruption in China is like a runaway train
Jesus, please let corruption decrease in China!
