Dear Friends
One job that all Christians should have in common: praying
It's not something for old women and children
It's something for every baptised person
Each
day it's good to make a note of people we meet or hear of who need prayer.
Good to make a list. And good to pray for them during the day.
Prayer might be something in our own words ("Jesus, please help
..name...") or an "Our Father" etc
At the end of the day, good to look at our list and ask the Lord's blessing on everyone on the list.
My own
habit is to write down names in a little note book which I always have with me.
I check it each night before sleep. If I wake during the night, I say one for
people on the list.
I check it again during Mass the next morning.
The older we get, and the less able to do more active jobs, the more the Lord is inviting us to do the one thing we can do till our last moments: pray
My
list yesterday, after a day in the hospital section of a detention centre:
head bandage man; skin graft man; stroke man; liver
problem man; nose cancer man; red-eye man; man with sores on butt; sore neck
man; deaf and dumb man.
+ parishioner's mother facing leg amputation; three people in court today;
safety for this part of the world from approaching typhoon
