Dear Friends
As the world remembers US Independence day today, we cannot help but notice that Pope Francis is encouraging more independence in the Church
He keeps using the "S" word ....with the implication of more responsibility and independence for national conferences of bishops ...and for local bishops
Nothing new: this is what Vatican II called for
And it pre-dates Vatican II. It's called the principle of subsidiarity (...1891...)
So the "S" word ("synod") can also happily be understand also to mean "subsidiarity" !
