Dear Friends
Yesterday
morning I received an email concerning the
lack of vocations to the priesthood in Australia.
Problem is not just Australia ...it's in most parts of the developed
world...including developed cities in "poor countries"....they too
have "dried up" and now vocations are coming only from poorer rural
areas
Diocesan
seminary in Hong Kong has not had a new vocation for four years.
Some seminaries in some places are empty.
Some congregations haven't had a new vocation for decades
Yesterday
I had lunch with a Chinese Evangelical
pastor who is a full-time prison chaplain.
I asked him if his group was getting vocations.
Answer was yes ...plenty ....men and women...often couples working together
May
Pope Francis help the Catholic Church wake up to the fact that vocations are in
every parish
....excellent lay people...men and women...catechists/teachers/professional
people....highly capable for being ordained ministers....but the laws of
compulsory celibacy and "men only" are stopping them from giving their
service to God
