"The joys and the hopes,
the sorrows and the anxieties of the people of this age,
especially those who are poor or in any way afflicted,
these are the joys and hopes,
the sorrows and anxieties of the followers of Christ"
This famous sentence reminds us that Christians
are not meant to be running away from "the world".
Christians are meant to be incarnated in the world,
just as the Son of God incarnated himself
in the world of his day:
praying, preaching, healing the sick, living simply,
giving joy and hope to people troubled by sorrow and anxiety
Jesus, may the Church of
our day,
may Christians of our day,
not turn their backs on the world,
but "pitch their tents" where people are sorrowing and anxious,
just as you "pitched your tent" in the "mess" that was the
world of your day
