"Gaudium et Spes" (Church in the world)  56

As the human family's cultures/customs etc converge,
no damage should be done to the good values of any group or nation

Easier said than done
when materially less-developed groups
experience "the good life"
and can easily turn their backs on their traditional cultures

Babies can easily be thrown out with bathwater.

Jesus, may we be like the wise scholar you mentioned
- bringing forth from the storeroom things both new and old
