This might sound obvious to people in some countries,
but for people who live in places like China,
this is a hot topic

Another idea in the article:
politicians and political parties
are meant to serve, not to be served

A very hot topic...in almost every nation of the world

In more and more countries,
politicians spend more and more of their time
getting or keeping power
...and less and less of their time on burning issues
- like unemployment, poverty, education, climate change etc

Personal note: for the past year or two, as soon as I get into bed at night,
I think of one part of the world (c.f. my daily blog) and pray
Jesus, give (that part of world) good political (and Church!) leaders,
for which I pray with you "Our Father in heaven..."

It's a guaranteed recipe for quick sleep. Sometimes I don't even get to finish the "Our Father".  Amazing how the thought of political leaders sends one to sleep!?
