Better off "Christian" countries should do more for the poor people of the world
It's a scandal that some countries are so
prosperous
while others are deprived of the necessities of life and
are tormented with hunger, disease, and every kind of misery
Helping poor countries often means helping them
get their act together:
bad governments are often the cause of famine etc
"Those Christians are to be praised and supported,
who volunteer their services to help other nations.
Indeed, it is the duty of the whole People of God,
following the word and example of the bishops (= hint..),
to alleviate as far as they are able the sufferings of the modern age.
They should do this too, as was the ancient custom in the Church,
out of the substance of their goods, and not only out of what is superfluous.
This activity of Catholics should be carried on in unison with other
Christians"
Jesus, please help Church leaders to take the
above words as seriously
as they do liturgical language
