People jokingly say the old policy about lay people was:
"pray and pay"

But Vatican 2 changed that policy to "pray and witness + have a full, conscious and active role in liturgy"
- lay people have ministries and charisms
- in their own way lay people share in the priestly, prophetical, and kingly functions of Jesus
- lay people are Good News leaven wherever they live and work
- by a life of faith, hope and charity, lay people make Jesus known to others

Sadly, the "reform of the reform" wants to put the lay Genie back in the bottle

Jesus, please bless all lay people who work for the spread of the Good News
by their lives of faith, hope and charity.
May the Church continue to recognize and encourage their God-given charisms
