"Mother Church earnestly desires
that all the faithful
should be led to that fully conscious and active participation in
liturgical celebrations
which is demanded by the very nature of the liturgy.
Such participation by the Christian people is their right and duty by reason of
their baptism.
In the restoration and promotion of the sacred liturgy,
this full and active participation by all the people
is the aim to be considered before all else;
for it is the primary and indispensable source
from which the faithful are to derive the true Christian spirit;
and therefore pastors of souls must zealously strive to
achieve it..."
Has any other section in the 16 documents of Vatican II
had such a real impact on the lives of Catholics?
c.f. John's Gospel - "the Word became flesh" -
Chapter 1:14.
So this document's Section 1:14 is where the documents of
Vatican II became flesh for all Catholics:
it made a difference in their lives
And just as God the Son's becoming flesh was denied by some
people,
so now we have this document's 1:14 being denied by the "reform of the
reform" group:
they are going back to a Mass
where the people are largely spectators, not active participators
Jesus, please don't let church leaders deny the teaching of 1:14!
