This final article of the Decree is a summing-up pep talk for Religious, expressing the hope that "their number may daily increase and their salutary work be more effective".

Little did the Council members know that numbers would plummet in the decades following the Council....as society went through huge changes

In 2014 there are two choices:

1. Keep going as we have been, and gradually die out

2. Open up to partnership with lay people....in Apostolic Christian  Communities
