2015-01-13 The story of Janny Law
Hong Kong born Janny was for many years a teacher at several international schools in Hong Kong. Then one day in 2013 she heard a radio program about volunteer work in Africa.
After a "look and see" visit to Malawi, one of the poorest countries in Africa, Janny is now there permanently, working with local medical and educational authorities to help poor people in villages bordering Lake Malawi.
In the village of Lifuwu where Janny lives, there are five primary schools, each with around 1,000 students. None of the five has electricity or water, all are short of teachers and classrooms, and some have classes under a large tree.
One
of Janny's dreams is to obtain a van to help disabled people attend a day-care
centre she is helping to establish. Many
