2016-02-16 Violence not the way to solve HK's problems
On February 8 I felt very sorry for the police. They are the meat in the sandwich where one piece of bread is a group of irresponsible protestors, and the other piece of bread is a most unpopular government.
The Mong Kok riots on February 8 were a stark reminder that we human beings have a violent streak that needs to be kept in check and that the causes of violence must be addressed.
You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that violence is not the way to solve problems, that violence begets more violence, that violence makes things worse, not better.
May Hong Kong leaders have the wisdom and courage to address the issues of injustice and unfairness in the community. In HK as in other parts of the world, unless deep-seated problems are addressed, violence will result.
