August 23, 2016     HK independence?

Before 2002, Mr Beijing and his daughter Miss HK had a harmonious relationship. Ever since Mr Beijing began opening up his country, no one helped him more than Miss HK - with investment, personnel and emergency aid.

But in 2002 Mr Beijing pushed for article 23. He also started trying to take control of Miss HK's freedoms and assets. This set off alarm bells in Miss HK's heart.

Since 2002, Mr Beijing has been like an octopus whose tentacles are trying to suffocate Miss HK's legal, educational and judicial systems, as well as media freedom.

Who can blame Miss HK for wanting to fight to protect her freedoms? It is totally unfair for critics of Miss HK not to allow discussion of the deep-seated causes of "HK independence". It's time to stop blaming the victim!
