March 6, 2018: George Muller .... and China

In a few days time in Bristol (UK) and in Kroppendstedt (Germany) there will be ceremonies to remember George Muller who died on March 10, 1898 in Bristol, aged 92.

Born in Germany, as a youth Muller once went to prison for not paying debts incurred by a wild lifestyle. But his life changed dramatically when he became a Christian, then a Christian evangelist, then a founder of orphanages in Bristol where he  provided education for thousands of orphans.

George Muller's trust in God to provide for all he needed had a huge influence on the young Englishman Hudson Taylor who was to spend 51 missionary years in China, keeping strong ties with Muller who generously supported him and his hundreds of helpers on many occasions.

Muller's heart had a special place for China, even before his Mainland visit which began in Hong Kong on September 12, 1886. Muller's story, with subtitles, is here: www.v2catholic.com/miscel/George-Muller.htm
