Sep 4, 2018: HK government serious about climate change?
Almost daily there are new reports with
frightening news about the increasingly serious consequences of climate change.
Yet governments around the world, including HK, are avoiding the elephant in the
room.
The lovely cool air that pours out of the open doorways of so
many HK shops is cooling us as we walk by, but at the same time it is warming
the earth we walk on. Shops should not be allowed to have open doors that waste
air conditioning power.
So many schools and government buildings leave lights on for 24 hours, even right through bright summer days. No private citizen would waste power like this in their own home. Wasted power is harming the planet.
If you Google "renewable energy Hong Kong" you'll find a government website and many other articles. But if we are serious about climate change we will stop wasting electricity.
