March 9, 2021: How lockdown helped homeless!
On January 23, day one of the Jordan lockdown, a journalist phoned to ask if I'd answer some questions since my home was in the lockdown area. The journalist, from a distance, subsequently took a photo of me as I lined up for Covid-19 testing with hundreds of other residents.
That journalist's report begat many other reports, all of them focusing on the situation of homeless people in the lockdown area.
The reports produced a huge outpouring of
concern and help by many thousands of wonderful Hong Kong people for the work of
my NGO, MercyHK, which is currently providing accommodation for more than 60
homeless people, as well as helping dozens of others who choose to sleep on the
streets, in the Jordan-Yau Ma Tei area. The reports are linked here:
