2011-12-07 Winner and loser in translation debate
As division continues to run deep in church circles concerning the new
translation,
and concerning "the reform of the reform",
I can't help thinking that Jesus must be very sad about the whole situation.
He who prayed for unity among his followers.
He who taught us to avoid power struggles.
On the other hand,
how happy Satan must be to see such division.
The church is following the trend of most political parties:
a battleground for getting and keeping power,
rather than an organization for service of the community
What can we do?
How can we find our way back to the vision of Jesus?
Step 1: A renewed dedication to the Bible. How many church leaders are known for their burning love for the Scriptures?
Step 2: A renewed dedication to serving the poor. How many church leaders have a reputation for genuine concern for the poor?
May the Bible and the poor put us back on the right track.
