January 25, 2012 Plane prayer John W
Last night I left Brisbane at 11.15 Brisbane
time on a very smooth Qantas Flight 97
and arrived in Hong Kong at 7.45 Brisbane time this morning
As usual during the flight I tried some of my
counting-sheep litanies
as a way of praying ..... going to sleep
One of the litanies is to pray for peace in
the world...continent by continent:
Jesus, Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world,
have mercy on Africa.
Jesus, Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world,
give peace to Africa
That's when I got stuck.
I remembered the current troubles in Nigeria.
So I started saying a few special prayers for Nigeria
...and couldn't stop
Each time I awoke, I continued the litany:
Jesus, please give peace to Nigeria.
Jesus, please give eternal life to those who have died recently in Nigeria.
Jesus, please console those who have lost relatives and friends recently in
Nigeria.
Jesus, please heal those who have been injured in recent bomb attacks in Nigeria
Jesus, please help the Nigerian politicians
genuinely want peace.
Jesus, please help the Muslims and Christians be friends.
Jesus, please don't let the Christians want revenge for the bomb attacks.
Jesus, please bless the priests and pastors to work for peace.
Jesus, please bless the Muslim leaders to work for peace
Jesus, please bless the policemen in Nigeria.
Jesus, please bless the soldiers in Nigeria.
Jesus, please bless the doctors in Nigeria.
Jesus, please bless the nurses in Nigeria.
Jesus, please bless the hospitals in Nigeria
Jesus, please bless the schools in Nigeria.
Jesus, please bless the students in Nigeria.
Jesus, please bless the universities in Nigeria.
Jesus, please bless the orphans in Nigeria.
Jesus, please bless the prisoners in Nigeria.
Jesus, please bless the children of Nigeria.
Jesus, please bless the mothers of Nigeria.
Jesus, please bless the fathers of Nigeria.
Jesus, please bless the grandparents of Nigeria
Jesus, please bless all families in Nigeria
