Where is the middle of the road in today's Church?
According
to Wikipedia, the term Via
Media was particularly associated with John Henry Newman and the Oxford
Movement
- promoting the idea that Anglicanism was a middle way between the extremes of
Protestantism and Catholicism
Maybe there's a need for an Oxford Movement in today's Catholic Church - promoting a middle way between extreme conservatism and extreme liberalism
Not
so easy when people are sometimes conservative about some issues and liberal
about other issues
Being conservative or liberal is not the problem.
The Church has always had both....since the days of James and Paul
...a healthy balance.....a brake and an accelerator....both are needed for the
journey of life
Problem is when one or both become extreme....a full throttle...or foot always on the brake
My hope is that this website, www.v2catholic.com could be a middle of the road effort....with the understanding that the middle of the road is not a narrow space, but a wide expanse
I type these words after reflecting that it was the extreme conservative wing of the Church that caused this site to be born (... reform of the reform + treatment of Bishop Bill Morris). But in recent months I have become more aware of the other side of the extreme coin....with some people out to deny every aspect of the Christian faith, and others with an "anything goes" approach to morality
Who or what or where is the middle of the road in today's Catholic Church? Anyone know of any articles on this topic? Anyone like to write something about this?
Love
to hear from you
