The
Word became flesh....and so did we
As we get older, it's normal to think a bit more about what happens after we leave this world
There are many books about people who have had "life after death" or "near death experiences" ...and have had a glimpse of the next life
On August 8 I posted an article A new (?) way of understanding "Gone home to Heaven" with a quote from To Heaven and Back by Dr Mary Neal MD
The end of the article has the words
Dr Mary is saying "we came from God, and are going back to God"
Which raises the question: what came from God?!
In
traditional language we can say: our souls.
Our souls came from God, from Heaven
And when we die, we are meant to go back to God, home to Heaven!
I'm not sure how this will sound to professional
theologians, but recently I was thinking that we are like God the Son:
he became flesh in Mary's womb...."The Word became flesh"
And
so did we! We are souls from Heaven
who became flesh in our mother's womb
On every new baby we can put a label: Made in Heaven!
Dr Mary speaks about our "personal journey, often filled with detours and dead-ends, of finding our way back to God"....like the Canadian salmon which swim upstream back to the place where their life began
Our awareness, our consciousness of who we are, should gradually grow into a more-than-human consciousness....grow into a divine consciousness. See this article re Teilhard de Chardin
The
Word became flesh....then went back to Heaven.
We too became flesh....and are meant to go back to Heaven,
just like Jesus
Jesus,
as we grow older, please help us grow in consciousness of who we are are, where
we came from, where we're going
