True story from Mexico
Yesterday I met a Canadian man who
told me the following story.
I have no reason to doubt the story
He
was in Mexico City for a Christmas holiday with some friends.
One night when he caught a taxi by himself, the driver stopped
unexpectedly....and two men got into the taxi....a
kidnapping
For two weeks the man was locked in a small building in a remote area while his captors negotiated with his family in Canada for a ransom. Canadian and Mexican police were notified but could not do anything
Captors planned to cut off a finger from man's left hand...and post it to his family. Finger still has scar from where preliminary wound was made
One night when captors were watching a football match on TV, man was able to escape from the building. Captors ran after him but he eluded them.
He fell and dislocated (not sprained) his ankle as he was nearing a remote country road. He needed an ambulance.....and the first vehicle to come along was ...an ambulance - "because my mother was praying for me"
Man
said he got to know his captors well. Said their motivation was not greed but
hunger. They and their families were close to starving so they used this
desperate measure to get money
