A dysfunctional Church?
Laity to the rescue?
What do you think?

"Dsyfunctional" is defined as

1. Not operating normally or properly.
2. Deviating from the norms of social behaviour in a way regarded as bad

In recent years many writers have been using "dysfunctional" to describe the Church

In February last year, Michael Mullins had an article Dysfunction in the Church and the ALP. The article included this diagram:

In November last year, Michael Kelly had an article titled Dysfunctional Church stares into the abyss

Back in 2001, Kilian McDonnell wrote about  Our dysfunctional Church

David Timbs in his July 2012 article Bertone said:
As Benedict has withdrawal into his preferred world of books and disengaged from direct Church governance, Bertone has asserted his authority over the Curia in such a way that deep unrest, disturbance and resentment have surfaced. The rage, in the form of destabilization tactics, has escalated to such a level that the Vatican has become divided and dysfunctional.

This description of a dysfunctional family has many applications to our current Church

More than one writer has said that the hierarchy/clergy has got the Church into this situation, it's now up to the laity to clean up the mess
