Pope Francis - Day One
As
I met people in Hong Kong yesterday, almost everyone knew that Pope Francis
travels by bus, lives in a simple apartment, visits slums etc.
These are the things that the HK media highlighted. And these are the things
that struck a chord with the HK public (the vast majority of whom are not
Christian)
In this stock market town, the value of Catholic Church "shares" went right up...where "shares' means respect for the Church
Especially was this true for Catholics. A number of Catholic people phoned me to express their joy that such a good man had become pope
For both Catholics and others, Francis has immediately shown that he has authority, the only type of authority that carries much currency these days: moral authority - he lives the message of the Good News, he practices what he preaches
In Francis we have someone we can be proud of. It's as if Mother Teresa has become pope!

Pope Francis - Thank
You Holy Spirit !
