Doing The Work Of Christ

We are called by our faith to do the work of Christ.
It is not extraordinary, it is not complicated, it is quite a simple thing to do.
It means that we are to be faithful in the little things,
because by being faithful in the little things is a big thing to Christ.

It means doing the tasks, the dirty ones if needed,
and joyfully doing them as it is a humbling experience.
It means being ever alert, and to make yourself available at every opportunity.
Being of service to everyone, without seeking any limelight.
It means being useful and productive,
yet understanding that you cannot help everyone.
Christ understands this.

It means recognising we also carry our own burdens and crosses
and exist in the busyness of life,
yet not using these as an excuse to not be ‘Christ-like’ to and for others.
It means being helpful, being faithful, being loyal, being constant and being present.

Mother Teresa sums it up most beautifully:
“We can do no great things – Only little things with great love.
You can do what I can’t do. I can do what you can’t do.
Together we can do something beautiful for God”.
