Being
unwanted…….
|
“We think sometimes that poverty
is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved
and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to
remedy this kind of poverty.”
Mother Theresa
I came across this statement from a friend recently.
It’s another example of the wisdom expressed by Mother Theresa as only she
could. Three words stick out for me: unwanted, unloved, and uncared, or more
specifically their opposites. Thinking of my family and circle of friends, I
find it difficult to find someone within that group who is unwanted, unloved and
uncared for. But that group and I are the lucky ones, unaffected by these
factors in our lives. My life is abundant with love and love is my resource that
can heal and maybe help someone who is unwanted, unloved and uncared for. I am
constantly listening to the words of Heal
the World by Michael Jackson to motivate and energise me.

. We have to care for the living, we all have love in our hearts to make the
world a better place. Love is a doing word, an ‘action’ word. Love is a
commandment for us. 1 John 4:21 says: And
He has given us this command- whoever loves God must also love his brother.
That means all, not just those we want to love. It is difficult, it is
time consuming, it takes energy, it is rewarding. And it is a requirement of
each and everyone of us. It is easy: just start by being kind, by listening, by
being open. It is a practice to strive for. A practice where wanting to make a
difference becomes a natural part of you and your mindset.
