People/priests are excommunicated if they publicly support the ordination of women! Brendan Butler, spokesperson for the organization We Are Church Ireland , has an entry on the ACP website about this issue, suggesting that Pope Francis has a blind eye when it comes to the women of the Church and the possibility of ordination.

Brendan Butler very rightly says that in terms of the Church’s hierarchical truths, surely, other truths are far more critical to the Catholic faith and call for adherence. Such an example would be to believe that Mary is the Mother of Church or that Jesus is divine and human at the same time. This last point is my addition to the conversation.

I find it absolutely idiotic that anyone should be thrown out of the Church because they have experienced and understand that Christ is incarnated in men and women alike and the Holy Spirit is able to empower men and women alike with the same spiritual gifts, including ecclesiastical leadership. I wonder how many Catholics deserve excommunication by the Vatican’s standards?
