Marie of the Incarnation, (Comments welcome here) |

I
was so very pleased that Pope Francis named Blessed Marie of the Incarnation, a
Roman Catholic Church Saint on April 2nd.
I should qualify this, by saying that, it may have to be shown that she
performed another miracle, before Pope Francis names her as a full Saint.
Rather silly, I think. The
Lord made her a Saint the second she died. As
Saint Paul says, when we die, we are changed in the twinkling of an eye.
(paraphrased)
Marie
came to Quebec from France in the 1600’s. You can find a
current summary of her life on Wikipedia.com. I
was given her life story to read about 30 years ago.
I understand the book to be out of print.
She
is referred to as the Mother of the Canadian Church.
She is a founder of an Ursaline Order of Nuns in Quebec . She
had a monastery built and performed such services as teaching the local
aboriginal children and providing medical aid as well.
I
was so very fascinated with her life story and her mystic relationship with
Christ. I remain fascinated with her
and include her in my circle of divine intercessors for help, guidance, and
strength.
There
are many wonderful aspects to her life and spirituality, and it is because of
her journey with Christ, that I came to understand one particular spiritual
phenomenon. She says in her book,
that God held her in His “grasp”. In
the book, the word grasp appears in italics. I was always curious as to what she
meant by being in the “grasp” of God. I
thank the Lord for her and what she said, because later in my journey with
Christ, I would also come to experience THE GRASP.
The
grasp is when Christ has his ever loving spiritual arms around us, and directs
our every step. It is akin to St.
Paul’s words: “It is no longer I
who live, but Jesus Christ in Me.”
She
is a Saint all right! Thank you Pope Francis and I hope you forego any further
testing of her sainthood! Thank you God for the life of Saint Marie of the
Incarnation!
