I
am convinced that the world is a much darker place than when I entered it in
1958. While we know that the
resurrection of Christ has ultimately defeated Satan and his works, evil
persists. Isis is so diabolical, I
struggle to believe, that they even exist.
In
the face of such darkness, the followers of Christ, must persevere in being the
light.
This
is the light that comes from living a “Beatitude Life”.
CATHOLIC
ENCYCLOPEDIA: The Eight Beatitudes
provides the following:
The
text of St.
Matthew runs as follows:
·
Blessed
are the poor
in spirit:
for theirs is the kingdom
of heaven. (Verse
3)
·
Blessed
are the meek: for they shall possess the land. (Verse
4)
·
Blessed
are they who mourn: for they shall be comforted. (Verse
5)
·
Blessed
are they that hunger and thirst after justice:
for they shall have their fill. (Verse
6)
·
Blessed
are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. (Verse
7)
·
Blessed
are the clean of heart: for they shall see God.
(Verse
8)
·
Blessed
are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
(Verse
9)
·
Blessed
are they that suffer persecution
for justice'
sake, for theirs is the kingdom
of heaven. (Verse
10)
In
comparing the beatitudes, with what is going on in the world today, it is
mind-blowing! In being bombarded each and every day with everything that is not
of Christ, it is helpful for me to be immersed in the beatitudes, reminding me
of what, I, as a Catholic Christian, am created for in this dark world.
As St. Paul says, “May You and I, as believers and followers of Christ,
remain strong in the grace of Jesus Christ.” (paraphrased)
