Pope Francis delivered my Christmas Gift, when he addressed the Curia with their Christmas message! While Pope Francis did reaffirm the Curia’s essential service, he also, made it quite clear, that the Curia is vulnerable to spiritual diseases and sinfulness. Pope Francis’s elaboration of what I call the "sin of the Church," answered my letter to him, in which, I had requested that Pope Francis write a paper about the nature of clericalism.
It ought to be noted that when Gary Wills wrote the book entitled, "Papal Sin, Structures of Deceit", there was a huge backlash. Yet, it seems, Pope Francis has gone farther than Gary Wills. I sincerely hope and pray that Pope Francis rights many a wrong perpetrated by the Curia.
Pope Francis assumes that the Cardinals, those who make up the Curia, had at some point in their lives encountered Jesus Christ. This remains questionable to me, however, whether they had such an experience or not, they are in a Christian leadership role, and are therefore, obliged to emulate Christ and the Gospel.
The Pope’s speech brought new meaning to light in the darkness, the Christmas event! May we continue to see the light in 2015.
