Dear Friends
Usually before I arrive at a detention centre,
I remember the words
"I was in prison and you came to see me",
and I usually say a little prayer
"Jesus, please help me be an instrument of your love during this
visit..."
Lately I've had a further thought when I put
my right hand
on an inmate's head/shoulder for a blessing or prayer for healing:
I'm now touching Jesus.
And I say in my heart "The Body of Christ"....and answer
"Amen"
i.e. when I touch an inmate, it's like touching/holding the Body of Christ at Communion time
The same goes for when we visit/help a sick
person, a poor person.
We can say "The Body of Christ" ....and answer "Amen"
Which raises the question: who's blessing whom?
