Dear Friends
May I share three special experiences of recent days:
1. Last Saturday, as I was climbing the stairs
of Jordan Metro Station,
I saw a woman carrying her son.
The son was in one of those shoulder slings that are common in this part of the
world.
The son was about 30-40 years old.
He had an enlarged head, and almost no body.
I said a silent prayer for them, and then said to the mother
"you are a very special mother"
to which she replied "jouh mama haih ying-goi-ge"
("this is what I should do as a mother")
to which I feebly replied
"In Heaven, the two of you will be specially blessed"
2. At a detention centre last Monday,
I met two Jewish men from Israel.
They were in a very small room with 47 other inmates.
All but one of the 47 are local Chinese men.
During a friendly chat, one of the Jewish men said
"the inmates here are really kind to us.
We didn't expect such kindness.
I don't think we'd find such kindness in most other countries"
3. Yesterday at a detention centre,
I met a man whose 20 year old son committed suicide
on May 5.
Please remember the above people in your prayers
