Dear Friends
Hello from Macau (80 mins by ferry from Hong Kong) where I'm spending a couple of days for meetings etc
Macau is a tiny place, surrounded by China, full of history. I'll put some photos up later in the week DV of the Jesuit graves at the site of St Pau's cathedral
In
the last few years Macau has replaced Las Vagas
as the world's no. 1 gambling city. Every block in downtown area has a huge
casino....and an old church.
May the casinos some day be used for other purposes
....conference centres, sports centres....and...churches?!
I'm enjoying the kind hospitality of the Claretian Community...whose leader in his homily at Mass this morning showed the influence of his locale when he said we should "put all our cards on the table" in our relationship with the Lord!
Not forgetting an old joke used by English teachers in HK: "Did you know that all of HK's milk comes from Macau?"!
