Dear Friends
In
two days time the Pope will host "The Synod of Bishops" in Rome,
from Oct 7 to Oct 28
I presume most of the participants, including HK's Cardinal John Tong, are already in Rome preparing for the Synod
Cardinal Tong is one of 3 presidents for the Synod
Let's pray each day "Come Holy Spirit and powerfully bless the Synod!"

HK yesterday began three
official days of mourning for the 38 victims of last Monday night's ferry
collision.
Wednesday night's races and this week's Mark Six lottery were among a number of
activities cancelled in view of the tragedy
As the days go on, facts like this are beginning to emerge:

Maritime Department regulations for boats carrying passengers to watch fireworks
- note Annex, no 6 (b), safety measures,
which says:
"all children on board should wear life jackets at all times"
(Five children were among the 38...none of them wearing a life jacket)
