Dear Friends
Yesterday morning during and after breakfast I watched the video of Robert Mickens' talk The Vatican Implosion.
The
talk hit many nails on the head, called a spade a spade etc.
As do two articles on today's menu:
Crisis
& criticism in the Church
and Swiss
abbot's call for reform
The
"Crisis and criticism" article repeats a common theme:
genuine reform has happened only when a pope has been open to it
We
can say all we like, write all we like, suggest and complain all we like, but
nothing is going to happen until a pope agrees for it to happen.
Which means the most practical thing we can do to work for Church reform is:
pray for the next pope to be someone who believes in reform.
So I continue
praying each day for the choice of the next pope . May he be a pope who
believes in reform, as did the popes of the 16th Century
In
fact yesterday, on train going to and coming from prison visit, I prayed
something like this:
Dear Holy Spirit, may the next conclave
meeting place be filled with your presence. May I today book an extra outpouring
of your presence for that meeting place....before any other presences can make a
booking.
May your presence prevent any negative spirits from being in that room:
spirits of jealousy, ambition, power, control, division, slander, revenge,
disbelief, unforgiveness, pride, refusal to reform etc
Let's pray like this in the coming months/(years?) until the next conclave!
