Yesterday I went to the HK Bible Society to get another supply of Bibles for prisoners - see photo. On the way I walked through Kowloon Park...which has a McDonald's ....where 6 homeless men were sitting at an outside table. They daily use the public shower next to McDonald's, and then look for food left over by McDonald's patrons. Some of them regularly come to our Sunday night gatherings for poor people....and we've tried before to find accommodation for them.
I bought them a meal ....and offered to try again to help them with accommodation....asking them to find a place for rent that could take a dozen or so people. These nights are very cold in HK...so instead of sleeping on the street they have taken refuge in one of the government shelters....which open only during very cold weather. They stayed the past two nights at the shelter in Tokwawan, near Notre Dame College - not in the Yau Ma Tei shelter....because too many drug addicts use that one. None of them is a drug addict
May the Lunar New Year be a better one for the poor!
