Yesterday morning I was at the High Court for the case of 5 young
Malaysian men charged with drug trafficking. Very sad to see young people going
to prison for 8 or more years ... and sad that no one from the Malaysian
Consulate attended Court
In the afternoon I was at West Kowloon Court where a drug trafficking charge was dropped against 78 year old Fr Louis Zimmerman from Switzerland who was tricked by Nigerians on the internet to take drugs from Sao Paulo, Brazil to HK. Fr Louis has been out on bail for five months and has been joining me for a meal on Saturday nights at Notre Dame College in Kowloon. I went surety for him, my first time to do such. Now he is free. Thank you Jesus! ( .. and please bless his excellent legal team ...)
I support this wise suggestion: Amnesty for both sides could end
crisis (and ... I totally condemn violence used by the protesters ... and I
find HK media increasingly has an anti-police bias) ***
Carrie
Lam must end protests before Oct 1

Pope's
letter to young people:
105. Carlo Acutis was well aware that the
whole apparatus of communications, advertising and social networking can be used
to lull us, to make us addicted to consumerism and buying the latest thing on
the market, obsessed with our free time, caught up in negativity. Yet he knew
how to use the new communications technology to transmit the Gospel, to
communicate values and beauty.
106. Carlo didn't fall into the trap. He saw that many young people, wanting to be different, really end up being like everyone else, running after whatever the powerful set before them with the mechanisms of consumerism and distraction. In this way they do not bring forth the gifts the Lord has given them; they do not offer the world those unique personal talents that God has given to each of us. As a result, Carlo said, "everyone is born as an original, but many people end up dying as photocopies". Don't let that happen to you!

Isaiah
1: Listen, heaven and
earth,
for the Lord is speaking: "The ox knows its
owner and the donkey its master's crib.
But my people have rebelled against me. I am tired of your
hypocritical lives,
tired of offerings given with dirty hands. You are so greedy for
profit,
always looking for bribes. Take your wrong-doing
out of my sight.
Stop doing evil. Learn to do good.
Practise justice towards the poor.
Help the oppressed, the orphan and the widow. Then, though your sins
are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow."
Lord,
please help me "wash my hands" by doing good for poor people

Psalm
100: Cry out with joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Serve the Lord with gladness.
Come before him, singing for joy. Know that he, the Lord, is God. He made us, we
belong to him.
We are his people, the sheep of his flock. Go within his gates, giving thanks.
Enter his temple with songs of praise.
Give thanks to him and bless his name. Indeed, how good is the Lord,
eternal his merciful love.
He is faithful from age to age.
Lord,
please help me "wash my hands" by doing good for poor people

The life and death of each of us, has its

If we live, we live for the Lord. If we die, we die for the Lord.
Alive or dead, we belong to the Lord. Never pass judgment on other people.
Never treat other people with contempt. The kingdom of God is not about eating special
food.
The kingdom of God is about friendship with God,
and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Do whatever you can to help other people
become stronger Christians

John
10.1-10:
Jesus said to the religious leaders "I
am the gate of the sheepfold. If anyone enters the sheepfold by some other
means than the gate, that person is a thief. The person who enters by the gate is the
shepherd of the flock. The sheep hear his voice as he calls each one by
name and leads them out of the sheepfold. When he has brought them out, he goes ahead of
them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. The thief comes only to steal and kill and
destroy. I have come so that people may have life, not just now but for
ever"
Jesus, Good Shepherd, please help more and
more people hear your voice and follow you

Pope's
letter to young people:
104. I remind you of the good
news we received as a gift on the morning of the resurrection: that
in all the dark or painful situations that we mentioned, there is a way out.
For example, it is true that the digital world can expose you to the risk
of self-absorption, isolation and empty pleasure. But don't forget that there
are young people even there who show creativity and even genius. That was the
case with the young servant of God Carlo Acutis.

Pope's
letter to young people:
98. Clericalism
is a constant temptation on the part of priests who see the ministry they have
received as a power to be exercised, rather than a free and generous service to
be offered. It makes us think that we belong to a group that has all the answers
and no longer needs to listen or has anything to learn. Doubtless, such clericalism
can make consecrated persons lose respect for the sacred and inalienable worth
of each person and of his or her freedom.

98. Abuse exists in various forms: the abuse
of power, the abuse of conscience, sexual and financial abuse. Clearly, the ways
of exercising authority that make all this possible have to be eradicated, and
the irresponsibility and lack of transparency with which so many cases have been
handled have to be challenged. The desire to dominate, lack of dialogue and
transparency, forms of double life, spiritual emptiness, as well as
psychological weaknesses, are the terrain on which corruption thrives

96. It is true that the scourge of the
sexual abuse of minors is, and historically has been, a widespread phenomenon in
all cultures and societies, especially within families and in various
institutions; its extent has become known primarily thanks to changes in public
opinion. Even so, this problem, while it is universal and gravely affects
our societies as a whole, it is especially monstrous when it takes place within
the Church. Indeed, in people's justified anger, the Church sees the
reflection of the wrath of God, betrayed and insulted

89. It should not be forgotten that there
are huge economic interests operating in the digital world, capable of
exercising forms of control as subtle as they are invasive, creating mechanisms
for the manipulation of consciences and of the democratic process. The way many
platforms work often ends up favouring encounter between persons who think
alike, shielding them from debate. These closed circuits facilitate the spread
of fake news and false information, fomenting prejudice and hate. The
proliferation of fake news is the expression of a culture that has lost its
sense of truth and bends the facts to suit particular interests. The
reputation of individuals is put in jeopardy through summary trials conducted
online. The Church and her pastors are not exempt from this phenomenon
