MercyHK's new meeting room - "The Doctor Jesus Centre" - at 187 Temple Street, Jordan is now in the setting up stage ....with meetings being held the past two days to discuss how to prepare it for multi-purpose use: office space, meeting area, activity area, space for prison books ... and ... most importantly... a prayer area to pray for healing.
Since last night I am at Seung Shui for an O.M.I. monthly retreat ... which finishes with lunch today ....after which I hope to visit nearby Lo Wu women's prison.

Jeremiah
1: Jeremiah lived in a
village not far from Jerusalem.
Jeremiah's father was a priest. God said to Jeremiah:
"Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.
I have appointed you as prophet to the nations." Jeremiah said to God:
"Lord, I do not know how to speak.
I am so young." God then touched
Jeremiah's mouth and said:
"I now put my words into your mouth.
Go and tell the people everything I ask you to speak. Do not be dismayed by
anyone.
I am making you strong. You must confront
Judah's kings, priests and people.
They will oppose you, but will not overcome you,
for I am with you."
Lord, please give special
courage to people who speak your message for the world
My
recording of this reading

Psalm
123: To you have I lifted up my
eyes,
you who dwell in the heavens. My eyes, like the eyes of slaves
on the hand of their lords. Like the eyes of a servant on the hand of her
mistress,
so our eyes are on the Lord our God till he show us mercy. Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy.
We are filled with contempt. Indeed all too full is our soul with the scorn
of the rich,
with the proud man's disdain.
Lord, please protect poor
people from being exploited by rich people

Hebrews
8-9:
Jesus' priesthood is part of the new covenant
predicted in the Scriptures: "See, the days are coming - it is the
Lord who speaks - when I will establish a new covenant with the House of
Israel". Jesus
has come as High Priest of all the
blessings that were predicted would be part of the new covenant. He has offered not the blood of animals like
priests of the old covenant, but his own blood, by which he won our
redemption. His blood can purify our inner self from dead
actions,
to help us in our life of dedication to the living God.
Jesus, by your precious blood, purify my heart
and protect me

Mark
7.24-30:
Jesus went to the district of Tyre.
A foreign woman fell at his feet and begged him to expel a devil from her
daughter. Jesus said "The children (= Jews)
should be fed first. It's not right to give the children's food to the
house dogs (= foreigners)". She replied "Ah yes, Sir, but the house
dogs under the table can eat the children's scraps". Jesus said to her "For expressing such
great faith, you can go home happy. The devil has gone out of your
daughter". She went home
and found the child lying on a bed, and the devil gone

post of Camay, a stage-four cancer patient who, after special prayers on
March 12, has shown remarkable recovery
Early last night as I headed to a canteen for dinner, two young
drug addicts I know asked me to get them something to eat. So they joined me at
the canteen .... their first food for the day. They'd had a busy day,
shoplifting, then selling their items to get money to buy heroin. A local
chemist buys some of the items they obtain from supermarkets. After the meal I
said a prayer with them to the One who is healing Camay, above.

258. War can easily be chosen by invoking
all sorts of allegedly humanitarian, defensive or precautionary excuses, and
even resorting to the manipulation of information. In recent decades, every
single war has been ostensibly "justified". The Catechism
of the Catholic Church speaks of the possibility of legitimate defence by
means of military force, which involves demonstrating that certain "rigorous
conditions of moral legitimacy" have been met. Yet
it is easy to fall into an overly broad interpretation of this potential right.
In this way, some would also wrongly justify even "preventive" attacks
or acts of war that can hardly avoid entailing "evils and disorders graver
than the evil to be eliminated"

Isaiah
62-66: The Lord says:
"My eyes are drawn to the humble and contrite person
who lovingly meditates on my word. Towards Jerusalem I will send peace,
flowing like a river. I am going to gather the nations of every language.
All peoples will know and love me

Psalm

I will ask for your good

Hebrews
7.1-28: Melchizedek was king of Salem and a priest of
God. He blessed Abraham. Abraham gave Melchizedek 10% of all
he had. Melchizedek's priesthood continued down
the ages in people dedicated to the service of God. It reached its
perfection in the Son of God, the Eternal High Priest. The Son of God, our Lord, did not come from
the priestly tribe of Levi. Everyone knows he came from the tribe of Judah.
This is because he established a new
priesthood, coming not from Levi, but from Melchizedek. This is why the
prophecy was made of him "You are a priest of the order of
Melchizedek, for ever". Jesus' priestly power to save us is utterly
certain, since he is living for ever to intercede for all who come to God
through him
Jesus, Eternal High Priest, please help all
pastors and priests be more like you every day

Mark
7.1-23: Some religious leaders asked Jesus "Why
do your disciples ignore many external practices of our religion?" Jesus answered, with the words of the prophet
Isaiah:
"This people honors me with external lip-service,
while their hearts are far from me." Jesus also said
"It's not certain foods or lack of washing that makes a person
unclean. It's evil in the heart that makes a person unclean. Evil intentions like murder, adultery,
fornication, theft, perjury, slander. These are the things that make a
person unclean."
Jesus, please clean my

257. Since conditions that favour the
outbreak of wars are once again increasing, I can only reiterate that "war
is the negation of all rights and a dramatic assault on the environment. If we
want true integral human development for all, we
must work tirelessly to avoid war between nations and peoples. To this
end, there is a need to ensure the uncontested rule of law and tireless recourse
to negotiation, mediation and arbitration, as proposed by the Charter of
the United Nations, which constitutes truly a fundamental juridical norm"

Jeremiah
30-31: God told Jeremiah to tell the
people these words: "I will restore you to health. I will heal your wounds.
I have loved you with an everlasting love. Strong and constant is my love for
you. I will bring back the exiles and save them. I will change their sorrow into
joy. The days are coming when I will make a new agreement with my people. Deep
within their hearts I will plant love of my Law. I will be their God and
they will be my people. I will forgive all their sins."

Yesterday morning I was a guest speaker at Sai Kung Catholic Secondary School - God bless the school for its hospitality! From Sai Kung I went to Tokwawan for the blessing and opening of the Oblate Shop in one of HK's poorest areas, aiming to do more for the poor. Then back in Jordan, with Eddie Chan (Chairman of St Peter's Association) I signed, on behalf of MercyHK, a contract for a mezzanine floor apartment next to MercyHK's shop in Jordan. The new premises will be for multi-purpose use ... meetings, office space for social worker and volunteers, storage area for books for prisons ... and a prayer room to pray for healing ... with the last objective producing the name for the premises: Doctor Jesus Centre
Also yesterday there was good news from the High Court: a

There are two extreme situations that may come to be seen as solutions in
especially dramatic circumstances, without realizing that they are false answers
that do not resolve the problems they are meant to solve and ultimately do no
more than introduce new elements of destruction in the fabric of national and
global society. These are war and
the death penalty.

for the Lord has anointed me. He has sent me to bring good news

Samuel 7: After David settled
into his palace and the land enjoyed peace, David thought about building a
temple for the Lord. Then through the prophet Nathan the Lord told David:
"I will establish your dynasty for ever. But it will be your son, not
yourself, who will build a temple for me." David praised God: "Who am
I, Lord, and what is my House, that you have helped me so much and promised me
so much? May my
House continue in your presence for ever. May
you bless my House forever."
Jesus, Son of David, give peace to our world
My recording of this reading

Psalm
134: I will sing for ever of your love, O Lord;
through all ages my mouth will proclaim your truth. Of this I am sure, that
your love lasts for ever, that your truth is firmly established as
the heavens. "I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have
sworn to David my

Matthew
1.18-24: This
is how Jesus Christ came to be born. His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph;
but before they came to live together she was found to be with child through the
Holy Spirit. Her husband Joseph, being a man of honour and wanting to spare her
publicity, decided to divorce her informally. He had made up his mind to do this
when the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, 'Joseph son of David,
do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because she has conceived what
is in her by the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son and you must name him Jesus,
because he is the one who is to save his
people from their sins.' When Joseph woke up he did what the angel of the
Lord had told him to do.
Jesus, Son of David, save your people from war and strife

turn the page, to say that all these things happened long ago and we should look
to the future. For God's sake, no!
We can never move forward without remembering the past; we do not progress
without an honest and unclouded memory. We need to "keep alive the flame of
collective conscience, bearing witness to succeeding generations to the horror
of what happened", because that witness "awakens and preserves the
memory of the victims, so that the conscience of humanity may rise up in the
face of every desire for dominance and destruction"

His love has no end. Let the sons of Israel say:
"His love has no end." Let those who honor the Lord say:
"His love has no end." It is better to take refuge in the Lord than
to trust in humans.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes. I was falling, falling, falling,
but the Lord was my helper. The Lord is my strength and my song.
He is my saviour. The Lord's right hand has triumphed.
His right hand has raised me up. I shall not die, I shall live
and recount all his deeds. The stone which the builders rejected
has become the corner stone. This is the work of the Lord,
a marvel in our eyes. This day was made by the Lord.
We rejoice and are glad.
Lord, we give thanks to you,
for you are good.
Your love has no end

Hebrews
3.1-13: Focus on
Jesus, the apostle and high priest of
our religion.
He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just like Moses. Take care not to turn away from the living
God.
Keep encouraging one another, so that sin does not cause you to turn away
from God
Jesus, help me stay focused on you

Mark
6.30-44: Once after Jesus had been healing and teaching
many people all afternoon, his disciples said to him
"It's getting late and the people need to go and eat".
Jesus replied "They don't need to go. You feed them".
The disciples replied "We have only 5 loaves and 2 fish". Jesus got the people to sit on the grass.
There were about 20,000 of them.
Then he blessed the loaves and fish. He handed the loaves and fish to his
disciples.
His disciples gave them to the crowd.
Everyone had plenty to eat.
They even had 12 baskets of leftovers.
Jesus, please help the starving
people of the world
