MercyHK's second hand shop at 191 Temple Street, Jordan needs
more volunteers, especially men!, to look after the counter/sales. Once a week
job ... either from 11am to 3.30pm or 3.30pm to 8pm. More information from
MercyHK Director Eddie Chan: 9849 8546.
Yesterday I said farewell to "A-Bo" who, sadly, is leaving HK this week for the UK ....like many others. It was A-Bo's March 2020 report about Covid-19 stopping homeless people from sleeping at McDonald's which led to MercyHK renting rooms at the Alhambra Building in Yau Ma Tei and setting up stalls, then a shop, in Temple Street....which in turn led to the setting up of the Dr Jesus Centre in Temple Street. Thank you and God bless you A-Bo!

Exodus 8: After seven days, God told Moses and
Aaron
to go to Pharaoh again,
this time causing a plague of frogs to cover the land
when Pharaoh again refused to let the Israelites go.
Then God got Aaron to strike the ground
and the dust turned into mosquitoes
which attacked people and animals throughout
Dear
God, please help all world leaders to listen to your voice
My
recording of this reading

Psalm
107: O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
His great love is without end. Let them say this, those the Lord has helped,
people from east and west, north and south. Some people wandered in the
desert, lost and unable to find their way to safety. In their hunger and thirst they cried to the
Lord for help.
He rescued them and showed them the way to safety. Let them thank the Lord for his love,
for he fills the hungry with good things. Some people were prisoners in misery and
chains,
living in darkness and gloom. In their distress they cried to the Lord for
help.
He rescued them and restored their freedom. Let them thank the Lord for his goodness,
for he shatters the iron bars of prisons. Some people were sick on account of their
sins,
unable to eat, and close to death. They cried to the Lord in their need.
He healed them and saved them from the grave. Let them thank the Lord for his love,
for the wonders he does for us. Some people sailed to the sea in ships
and were caught in terrifying storms. They cried to the Lord in their need
and he calmed the sea and wind. Let them thank the Lord for his love,
for the wonders he does for us. Whoever is wise should meditate on these
things
and reflect on the love of the Lord.
Thank
you Lord, for your rescuing love

Acts
5.21-33:
When the leaders had their big meeting later
that same morning, they sent for the apostles to be brought from prison. The police went to the prison, then came back
and reported to the leaders "We found that the prison was properly
locked, and the guards were on duty. But when we unlocked the door, there
was no one inside". Then a man arrived at the meeting with the
news "At this very moment, the men you imprisoned are now in the
Temple preaching to the people". The police again arrested the apostles and
brought them to the meeting.
When the main religious leader reminded them of his previous warning not
to preach, Peter and the apostles replied "Obedience to God comes
before obedience to men. God raised Jesus up to be the Savior. We are
witnesses to this, we and the Holy Spirit whom God gives to those who obey
him". This made the leaders so angry that they
wanted to kill the apostles
Jesus, please help me put obedience to you
before all other obediences

Luke
9.28-36:
One day Jesus took his disciples Peter, James
and John
up a high mountain to pray.
On the mountain, while Jesus was praying, his whole appearance changed.
His clothes became brilliant as lightning. The prophets Moses and Elijah appeared
and spoke with Jesus. Peter said to Jesus "Lord, how good it is for
us to be here!" Then a bright cloud covered them with its
shadow.
From the cloud came a voice:
"This is my Son, the Beloved. Listen to him".
When the voice had finished speaking, the disciples saw only Jesus in his
normal appearance
Jesus, Beloved Son of God,
how good it is to spend time with you in prayer

Exodus
7:
Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh again
and showed him Aaron's staff changing into a snake.
When Pharaoh's magicians were able to do the same thing
Aaron's staff swallowed up the magicians' staffs.
But Pharaoh's heart stayed stubborn
and he wouldn't listen to Moses and Aaron.
So God told Moses and Aaron to go to the river the next morning.
When they saw Pharaoh there
Aaron struck the river with his staff
and the river and all water throughout Egypt
turned into blood.
But Pharaoh still would not let the Israelites go.

Psalm
106: O give thanks to the Lord for he is
good.
His great love is without end. They are happy who do what is right,
who at all times remember what is just. When our ancestors came out of Egypt,
they forgot the greatness of God's love. Each time they strayed, God forgave them.
But still they continued to forget God who was their saviour,
God who had done such great things for them in Egypt.
O Lord, our God, please don't

Self-sacrificing will bless your life. What use is it to have everything in this

Jeremiah
21-23: Jerusalem was under siege by
the Chaldaeans. The Lord told Jeremiah to tell the leaders of Jerusalem to
surrender. But the leaders of Jerusalem did not obey Jeremiah's words. So the
Lord got Jeremiah to say these words: "Woe to the shepherds who allow my
sheep to be scattered and killed. You
have not taken care of my sheep. Therefore I will raise up a leader who
will be wise and just. He will be a good shepherd of my people."
Lord, please help our leaders to be good shepherds
My
recording of this reading

Psalm
23: The
Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want. Fresh and green are
the pastures where he gives me repose.
Near restful waters he leads me, to revive my drooping spirit. He guides me
along the right path. He is true to his name. If I should walk in the valley of
darkness no evil would I fear. You are there with your crook and your staff;
with these you give me comfort. You have prepared a banquet for me in the sight
of my foes. My head you have anointed with oil. My cup is overflowing. Surely
goodness and kindness shall follow me all the days of my life. In the Lord's own
house shall I dwell for ever and ever.
Thank you, Lord, for being my good shepherd

2.11-14: You
non-Jews were once without hope and without God. But now by the blood of Christ,
you who had nothing in common with us Jews, have been united with us into one

has broken down the barrier which used to keep us apart

Mark
6.30-34: The
apostles rejoined Jesus and told him all they had done and taught. Then he said
to them, "You must come away to some lonely place all by yourselves and
rest for a while"; for there were so many coming and going that the
apostles had no time even to eat. So they went off in a boat to a lonely place
where they could be by themselves. But people saw them going, and many could
guess where; and from every town they all hurried to the place on foot and
reached it before them. So as he stepped ashore he saw a large crowd; and
he took pity on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and
he set himself to teach them at some length.
Reflection on the above readings: The problems of our world have mostly been caused by poor/bad leadership. Our troubled world urgently needs leaders like Jesus the Good Shepherd

Exodus
5-6: Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said
'God says: let my people go into the desert to worship me".'
Pharaoh not only refused to let them go;
he also made their life more difficult

his clothing. Her bleeding stopped at that moment.
Jesus knew what had happened and said to her
"My daughter, your faith has healed
you. Go in peace".
Before Jesus arrived at the official's house, a messenger arrived
and said to the official "Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the
Master any more". Jesus heard these words and said to the
official "Do not be afraid. Have faith, and she will be ok". At the house Jesus allowed only Peter, James,
John and the girl's parents to go with him inside.
To the mourners Jesus said "Stop crying.
She is not dead, but asleep". They laughed at him, since they
knew she was dead.
Jesus took the little girl by the hand and called to her "Child, get
up". Her spirit returned and she got up at once
Jesus, please increase my faith in your power to
heal sick people and raise the dead
