Hello from Bangkok where I arrived yesterday afternoon. Last night I had a meal with 2 former prisoners in HK and a family member of a present prisoner. The first time these 3 people had ever met ....they immediately bonded and from now on will be able to support each other. Bangkok weather very warm - expecting 30 or so each day this week. In fact last night before the meal I had a quick swim in the pool of my hotel ....beautiful .... hard to believe I had been shivering in HK's cold weather in the early morning!
On this second day of my trip I again ask Jesus to bless everyone who made this trip possible and all who are praying for me and the people I meet.

festival. In a building near the Sheep Gate, he saw many sick people.
One paralyzed man had been ill for 38 years. Jesus
said to him "Do you want to be well again?

The man was healed at once. He picked up his bed and walked away.
After a while Jesus met him in the Temple and said to him "Now that
you are well, do not sin any more".
Jesus, if my sickness is due to some sin,

was privileged to visit Guadalupe before and after my
trip to South America four years ago. Before, to ask for protection and help;
after, to say thank you! Mary
of Guadalupe, pray for us!
And today as I begin another anti-drug campaign trip I ask the protection of the same loving Mother ... today a good day to travel! First stop is Bangkok. I'm due back HK on Feb 8 please God. Thank you for a daily prayer 12/12 to 8/2 ... during which time I will especially pray each day for the kind people who made the trip possible.

home. Your son will live". The official believed Jesus and started his
journey home. While on the journey, he was met by his servants who told him
the boy was alive and well. "The fever left him yesterday, they
said, "at 1pm". The father realized that this was the exact
time when Jesus had said "Your son will live". The
official and all his household then believed in Jesus

Two
thousand years ago, a young husband and his soon-to-deliver wife were on a long
journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem...not by train/plane/bus or car...but by
donkey...Mary riding, Joseph walking. A journey of around 150 km ....longer than
from HK to Guangzhou (119km) or from Brisbane to Toowoomba (127km)...about same
as from Melbourne to Morwell (152km). A trip that would have taken around 10
days. See Hiking the Nativity Trail from Nazareth to
Bethlehem.
In our prayers over the next two weeks before Christmas, let's often remember
Joseph and Mary and Jesus travelling to Bethlehem.

Singapore grandmother was acquitted by a HK High Court jury from a drug
trafficking charge ....after being in prison for 39 months ...having been
tricked to take drugs from Sao Paulo, Brazil to HK. On Dec 2 at the Dr Jesus
Centre in Jordan I made a video interview with her. It's here

Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary by her mother Anne
This feast reminds us that it is possible to defeat evil - e.g. the evil of drugs. Drug taking/trafficking can be stopped. Whenever evil wins a battle, it can still lose the war. From defeats by evil, greater goodness than previously thought possible, can become possible. Beautiful prayer for today by Pope Francis
Yesterday I visited Tai
Lam women's prison .... and while in the laundry workroom, I remembered
three women who spent 2- 3 years there ... but now they are free ...having been
acquitted by High Court juries ....and I'm due to see the 3 of them, together
with a young man also acquitted ....later in the month in another country... the
four of them together ...will be memorable ... and make a memorable story to
help stop other people bringing drugs to HK
A
friend has told me that this wonderful NGO
is urgently in need of financial help .... as they continue their beautiful work
of caring for people with intellectual and physical disabilities

Last night I met a homeless local mother and her three very young
children for whom MercyHK is providing emergency accommodation. And
yesterday a consulate asked our help to provide emergency accommodation for
someone from their country. MercyHK staff and associates also spent much of
yesterday on the processing of requests from prisoners for help with study
courses. Many things happening!
